Matryoshka คือศิลปินดูโอจากญี่ปุ่นที่มีชื่อวงและชื่ออัลบั้มเป็นภาษารัสเซีย
เกิดจากการผสานเคมีระหว่าง ‘Sen‘ โปรดิวเซอร์ – โปรแกรมเมอร์หนุ่ม ซึ่งรับหน้าที่ภาคดนตรี แถมพ่วงตำแหน่ง Orchestra Writer  กับ ‘Calu‘ นักร้องนำสาวเสียงหวานบาดวิญญาณ ประหนึ่งนางฟ้าที่กำลังร่วงหล่นจากสวรรค์

ดนตรีของ Matryoshka เป็นส่วนผสมอันลงตัวของ Post-rock, Electronic, Ambient และ ดนตรี Classic ร่วมสมัย
ไม่ได้เปรี้ยวลำ้ หรือหลุดพ้นความจริงจนจับต้องไม่ได้
Sen และ Calu นำพาคุณล่องลอยไปกับเสียงสังเคราะห์ ในบรรยากาศมืดหม่น  ดำดิ่งล้ำลึกถึงก้นบึ้งของความรู้สึก ด้วยเสียงของเครื่องสายที่ต้องมนต์ขลัง และเปียโนที่ท่วงทำนองเพราะจับใจ   แล้วถูกแผดเผาไหม้ด้วยการกรีดร้องอันหนักหน่วงของกีต้าร์ post-rock

อัลบั้มแรก “Zatracenie” ซึ่งออกมาตั้งแต่ปี 2007 ทำให้เราได้รู้จักวง Matryoshka
ชื่ออัลบั้มมาจากภาษารัสเซียที่แปลตรงๆ ว่า ‘บรรลัย’  เรียกว่าเปิดฉากด้วยความมีดดำกันตั้งแต่เริ่มเลยทีเดียว คุมโทนด้วย Art Direction ของปกซีดีที่ impact แต่แรกเห็น เป็นตัวแทนภาพที่สะท้อนจากตัวตนของอัลบั้มนี้ได้อย่างบรรเจิด ออกแบบโดย Shinta Masui กับ Sen   และ Artwork โดย Aya Sacuraco

Single แรก เพลง ‘Sink into the Sin‘ สะดุดหูเราครั้งแรกโดยบังเอิญ แล้วพาให้ต้องค้นหาอย่างจริงจัง  ด้วยความเป็นเอกลักษณ์เฉพาะตัวที่มีเสน่ห์ การผสมเสียงที่ข้ามผ่านยุคสมัย มีกลิ่นของ Beat กลองสังเคราะห์ที่่พาให้นึกถึงช่วงปฏิวัติอุตสาหกรรม ขณะเดียวกันก็มีความหรูหราของ Orchestra ที่รวมกับเสียงร้องอันล่องลอยของ Calu ได้อย่างน่าทึ่ง

พอได้ซีดีอัลบั้มนี้มาครอบครองเป็นที่เรียบร้อย  ก็ได้ดึ่มด่ำกับทุกๆ เพลงที่มีมุมมองอันแตกต่าง และคาดไม่ถึง
โทนของอัลบั้มยังคงความหม่น แสดงถึงความพินาศทางในมุมที่หลากหลาย  แต่ไม่ได้นำพาให้คุณดิ่งลงเหวจนอยากฆ่าตัวตาย
ในทางกลับกัน ความพินาศเหล่านั้นยังฟังดูไพเราะ งดงาม  ราวกับกลั่นกรองผ่านจิตใจที่นิ่ง และพร้อมรับในความไม่สมหวังทุกๆ สิ่ง

Track 5: My Funeral Rehearsal
ครบเครื่องทุกแนวดนตรีที่ผสมผสานชอง Matryoshka   เปิดฉากมาด้วยเสียงเปียโน และบรรยากาศการปะทุ เผาไหม้ที่ชวนให้คิดถึงยามฝนพรำ เสียงร้องที่เหมือนจะละลายหายไปกับควันไฟบนท้องฟ้า  สาดกระจายด้วยกีต้าร์ เครื่องสาย และกลองสดที่ระดมกันมาในท่อนพีค ก่อนที่ทุกอย่างจะลอยหายไป

Track 6: Tyrant’s Miniature Garden
ยังคงกลิ่นอายแบบเดียวกับเพลงที่ 5   แต่ลดความหนักหน่วงของกีต้าร์ลง และเพิ่มลูกบ้าของกลองสดที่กระหน่ำแข่งกับเครื่องสาย Orchestra
ที่เด็ดมากคือเนื้อหาที่จี๊ดถึงทรวงคนไทยทั้งประเทศ!!

ทั้งที่เพลงนี้ออกมาตั้งแต่ปี 2007   แล้วคนแต่งก็ไม่ได้อยู่บ้านเมืองเรา  แต่บังเอิญอย่างที่สุด เมื่อเนื้อเพลงเพลงนี้มาสอดคล้องกับความเศร้าที่กำลังเกิดขึ้นในบ้านเมืองเรายุคนี้
